Meet Paul
Committed to Service, Committed to Salem
Paul and his family moved to Salem’s Ward 1 in 2015, and he attended his first Grant Neighborhood Association meeting the first month he lived here. Ever since that meeting in the Grant Community School Library, Paul has found ways to invest his time in the future of Salem:
Grant Neighborhood Association Board, 2016-2023
Land Use Chair, Grant Neighborhood Association, 2016-2023
City of Salem Budget Committee Member, Ward 1, 2018-2023
Chair, City of Salem Budget Committee, 2020-2022
At Your Service volunteer recognition award winner, City of Salem, 2022
Commissioner, City of Salem Planning Commission, 2024-2028
In addition to his time volunteering for the City of Salem, Paul also coaches recreational soccer teams with Capital Fútbal Club Salem (CFC Salem) and occasionally volunteers at Grant school, recently trying his hand as a quiz show host for Oregon Battle of the Books.
Professional Experience
Paul brings a broad collection of professional experiences to his work with the City of Salem. Currently in private industry as a creative communications strategist with Metropolitan Group, his previous employment provides a solid foundation to understand what makes government work and how it can be responsive to the public:
Federal Land Manager, Department of the Interior, Oregon & Colorado
Congressional Affairs, Department of the Interior, Washington, DC
Presidential Management Fellow, Washington, DC
JD, University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Denver, CO
Americorps Volunteer, Alamosa, CO
A Salem Family
Paul and his wife Carla are the proud parents of two Salem-Keizer students, one at Grant and another at Parrish Middle School. Their future in Salem inspires Paul’s involvement and wanting to make this City a great hometown for everyone.
